A splendid concert was organised by volunteers to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of BRACE.

Well over 300 people packed All Saints Church in Clifton, Bristol on 7 October. They were treated to some sublime violin music by the exceptional Julia Hwang, supported by the Bristol Male Voice Choir and soprano Deborah Gjeloshaj. The music was punctuated by two readings from TV actress and long-time BRACE Ambassador Stephanie Cole. The whole event was ably compered by BBC Bristol’s David Garmston.

Chair of Trustees, Professor Stephen Lisney said afterwards, “We were not celebrating our longevity with this concert, because our aim is to defeat dementia and make the charity redundant. We were, however, celebrating the work of the scientists we fund and the many committed supporters who have made our research grants possible.”

BRACE would like to thank all the performers for a great evening, and everyone who came along and made it such a memorable occasion.

We would also like to thank those who generously sponsored the event – Bond Dickinson, Rathbones Investment, The Dame Violet Wills Trust, Roman Glass, The Basil Brown Trust and Knowle Golf Club.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank the volunteers who formed the concert committee – Pat and Roger Higgins, Bee Lang and Carole Jenkins – and all the other volunteers who helped on the night.
